How to Register

  • Print and mail a voter registration application from VoteTexas.gov
  • Pick up a voter registration form at your county voter registrar's office, libraries, or government offices
  • Your county voter registrar's office processes all registrations

Voter ID Requirements

Accepted Forms of Identification

  • Texas driver's license or personal ID card (may be expired up to 4 years)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate (free from DPS)
  • Texas handgun license
  • U.S. military ID with photo
  • U.S. citizenship certificate with photo
  • U.S. passport (book or card)

What if I don't have ID?

If you cannot obtain a photo ID, you may sign a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and present a supporting document (utility bill, bank statement, government document, paycheck, or certified birth certificate).

Absentee (mail-in) ballots are available only if you are 65 or older, sick or disabled, will be out of the county during the entire early voting period and on Election Day, or confined in jail.
